Birley to leave ECX within three months
Equity Research Desk quoted Birley as saying he would stay with the company “for a transition period of a maximum three months, but will be leaving after that”.
In April, ICE announced a £395m ($604m) takeover of Climate Exchange’s bourses, aimed at gaining a further grip on the booming European energy markets.
Birley, a former CEO of clearing house LCH.Clearnet, has also been director of strategy at the London Metal Exchange, and was CEO of Safex, the South African futures exchange, throughout the 1990s, overseeing a transitional period after the bourse’s purchase by the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 2001.
