Former RBC Investor Services CEO José Placido will become the new global head of sales and relationship management at BNP Paribas Securities Services from January 2015.

In the meantime he will join the custody bank’s executive committee on April 22 and will co-lead sales and relationship management with current head of client development Charles Cock.

Patrick Colle, general manager of BNP Paribas Securities Services, said: “I am delighted to welcome José to BNP Paribas. José has an outstanding track record in our industry for implementing a growth agenda and driving performance. He joins at an important time for our business, which is growing rapidly around the world.”

Placido will focus on strategic sales planning and the heads of the global client segments will report to him. He will be based in London and will report to Patrick Colle, general manager.

Placido left RBC Investor Services last April after being its CEO for seven years. He led the RBC Dexia Investor Services joint venture. He had previously worked for RBC Royal Bank where he was held roles including executive vice president of RBC Global Services, and senior vice president of RBC Global Securities Services.

Cock will become vice chairman international, a new senior client executive role focused on key client relationships. In the meantime he will have direct responsibility for the client development team globally.

Colle said: “Charles has done an outstanding job as head of client development and will now be instrumental in fostering new senior relationships with our customers. These appointments position us well for future growth, and the transition period will ensure a smooth handover.”

Cock joined the group when Paribas bought the JPMorgan European clearing and custody network in 1995 and has since been in charge of sales and relationship management.
