JPMorgan Asset Management has hired Christoph von Reiche as head of Europe for its institutional business.

Von Reiche’s appointment is part of the firm’s push to expand the European institutional business team and highlights its aim to help solve investment issues faced by European clients as the region’s outlook continues to change.

has extensive European experience of serving institutional clients; that experience will help… as clients increasingly look to more sophisticated investment strategies and solutions,” said Mike O’Brien, global head of JPMorgan Asset Management’s institutional business.

“Since 2008, institutional investors have been rethinking and redesigning how they invest. Traditional investment models are less appealing than they were prior to 2008 and it is no surprise that we have seen significant growth in not only alternatives but also, more broadly, the adoption of a solutions-based approach to investing,” said von Reiche.

Von Reiche joins JPMorgan Asset Management from Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) where he has spent much of his career. Most recently he was head of GSAM’s institutional business in Germany and Austria and has held a number of other senior positions within the region prior to this.

O’Brien recently made a number of senior appointments across JPMorgan’s European institutional business, including James Peagam as European head of insurance solutions, John Stainsby as head of UK institutional business and Paul Sweeting as European head of strategy.
