Cleared securities lending activity on the OCC dropped 17% in June compared to the same period in 2013.

Some 100,658 new loans were processed during the month.

Year-to-date stock loan activity is down 9% from 2013 with 586,380 new loan transactions in 2014.

The OCC's entire cleared business, which covers options and futures in addition to securities lending, was also down 11% in May compared to the same period in 2013.

Year-to-date activity for the business was 1% lower than the previous year with 2,117,001,407 transactions executed since the start of 2014.

This marks the OCC's fifth consecutive year that cleared volume in the first half of the year reached 2 billion contracts.

Options trading continued to fall in June from last year's figures, dropping 11% from June 2013. Trading fell 18% in May from the same month last year, although it was up 1% year to date.

Futures clearing was down 16% in May from the same month in 2013 but in June it was up 1% from June 2013.
