London-based fund Devet Capital has beaten off the competition to win a coveted Dutch award for best investment strategy chosen by over 250 industry experts.

Devet Capital was selected by the vast delegation of investment managers, investors, hedge funds and high-net worth individuals as the winner of the AIF Factor 2016 award, which allows a range of funds to pitch their investment strategies.

The competition was part of ABN Amro Clearing’s Fifth Amsterdam Investor Forum held on Wednesday in Amsterdam.

Irene Perdomo, principal & founding partner of Devet Capital Investments, said: “We are so pleased that our market neutral commodity investment strategy convinced this professional audience.”

She added: “They really liked our track record of consistent positive risk adjusted returns, with controlled drawdowns, with a strict risk management approach. This is achieved through an efficient combination of machines for trade selection and human intervention for the risk management.”

Devet saw off competition from a shortlist including: the Serone Key Opportunities Fund of Serone Capital Management; the Mint Tower Arbitrage Fund from Mint Tower Capital Management; Abrax Merger Arbitrage of Puzzle Capital; and Done Hedge Fund by Done Fund Management.

Gildas Le Treut, global head of prime at ABN AMRO Clearing, said: “We have had a great diversity of strategies presented to us this year again, and five impressive finalists.”

He added: “I am especially pleased with the compelling and enthusiastic pitches delivered by the five finalists. I would like to congratulate Devet Capital Investments for winning the AIF Factor. Their dynamism and the clarity of their presentation made a particular impression on the audience which led to a success in a very close race.”

ABN said the AIF Factor competition is open to all active or prospective funds of any size, location, investment target or style.

The award is a boost for the London-based fund founded by former Barclays traders Perdomo and Leo Marroni.

Perdomo will be speaking on the opening panel of FOW’s The Evolution of Professional Trading event in London on February 25. Click on the link to register and for more information.
