A senior securities lending executive is leaving the industry to run his own adventure travel company.

After more than a decade working for Citi, Jeff Bonaldi will leave the bank this week.

He is moving on to run his own company, The Explorer's Passage.

The business focuses on extraordinary events in history and retells them through adventures for clients. It operates tours on six continents.

Bonaldi is also launching the Gladiator Trek Foundation, which helps people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) heal through adventure experiences in the mountains.

"The mission is help people see a window into what is possible with their lives," Bonaldi told Global Investor.

Bonaldi began his career at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers where, from 2003-2006, he worked as a fixed income portfolio manager.

After joining Citi in 2006, Bonaldi ran the bank's cash collateral investment desk in the Americas until 2011.

The New York-based executive then became head of Americas sales for Citi's agency lending and separate account cash management businesses.

Two years ago he added collateral management sales to his responsibilities.

"At Citi, I have had the incredible opportunity to work with an extraordinary group of people, who together built the agency securities lending business into a premier global organization," Bonaldi added.

"While I am sad to leave, I am excited to move on to the next chapter in my life and focus on a number of entrepreneurial ventures that I am truly passionate about."
