IHS Markit has hired Clearstream executive Stuart Cornock to its securities finance business in London.

The securities lending specialist joined the data provider earlier this month as an associate sales director, relocating from Singapore.

He will focus on IHS Markit’s SFTR offering and the other securities financing solutions offered by the firm.

“Stuart has a deep understanding of securities financing markets, and strong affiliations across the global securities lending and repo communities," said Charlie Bedford-Forde, director at IHS Markit.

"As the industry moves to address complex SFTR requirements, Stuart will work closely with our existing securities finance business to support the growing demand for our solutions."

Cornock arrives at the company having spent over a decade at Clearstream – the clearing and settlement arm of Deutsche Boerse.

The executive first joined Clearstream in 2005 and was part of the team that launched the company’s principal lending product.

In 2013 he relocated to Singapore and was responsible for Clearstream's lending products across Asia and the Middle East.

Part of Cornock’s new role will be concentrated on IHS Markit’s SFTR reporting solution, built in partnership with Pirum.

Major lending agents, including BNY Mellon and J.P. Morgan, have already signed up to use the tool.

Last year Stuart Day was hired by IHS Markit in London as a director to help helping clients with SFTR compliance.
