EC approves APX-Belpex merger
APX-Endex operates spot and futures markets for electricity and gas in Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK. Belpex runs an electricity market in Belgium.
Under the transaction, APX will acquire Belpex’s activities. APX is jointly controlled by Tennet, Gasunie and Fluxys, the distribution grids for Dutch electricity, Dutch gas and Belgian gas. After the merger Belgian electricity grid Elia, which controls Belpex, will have joint control over the new entity alongside the existing owners.
