Barcap’s Peirson joins SEB Futures
Peirson was a director overseeing client relationships for Barclays’ futures and options business in the prime services division. SEB’s hiring of Peirson may be a result of the departure of Steve Martin, head of SEB Futures, a few weeks ago. Martin is now head of futures EMEA at State Street Global Markets.
When Martin left, Gregg Cowie, global head of trading at SEB Enskilda, was given overall responsibility for SEB Futures. Martin’s responsibilities were split between John Gammer and Kevin Ferris, reporting to Cowie. Gammer had previously been on the clearing side of the business, while Ferris had been responsible for client relationships.
Peirson is now joining the team as head of futures sales and marketing. He will report to Attila Olesen, head of securities finance, and Gregg Cowie, head of futures, who are both co-heads of equities. Peirson originally joined Barclays de Zoete Wedd’s futures division in London as a clearing sales manager in 1996. Before that, he worked at Central Hispano Bolsa, where he restructured the operations and client services departments. He has also worked at Ahorro Corporacion Financiera and Mercavalor in Madrid.
